Nikon | AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.4G ED

Nikon has just released the 24mm f1.4 lens. I normally do not get excited over new lenses from Nikon as they have already cemented their reputation with some classic and legendary lenses. But this aspherical, fixed focal length lens is that great and rare combination of wide (24mm) and fast (f1.4). As with any specialty lens, it costs a bit of scratch ($2199.95) and will perform extremely well in very specific situations.

There is nothing like having a bag full of expensive and precious glass, each lens pulled out periodically to perform their narrow functions. It is easy to feel like a fool and a sucker for pricey gear until that moment arrives where you have the perfect lens for a particular situation.

Some examples from Nikon below. The bokeh does not look mind blowing in these images but until I get this lens in my hands, I will have to reserve judgement.
