Kiev | Katja, Part II

I never know how I am going to get along with someone I am photographing.

I secretly have to be in love with whomever is in front of my lens for things to work out. Male or female, child or adult, it does not matter. If I love them, it shows. If I think they are dumb or am just indifferent to my subjects, that is readily apparent on my film as well.

I’ve had a couple of disastrous wedding gigs because I just did not get or did not like the bride. And it showed up. On every frame.

These photos with Katja were disappointing to me in that they does not convey how quickly and amazingly I fell in with Katja, how comfortable we were together, how much we laughed, and how quickly I fell under her spell.

Still.

Here they are. What a goddamn beauty.
