These images are beautiful, Doug. Great tones and nicely textured.
It’s hard to venture to a place like the Hill Tribes and feel comfortable shooting there – it’s such a jump in lifestyle that you naturally feel self-conscious (and then your photography feels that way too). But you were able to momentarily become part of the life and the images have a natural feel.
I was there at the beginning of the year and got some photos which were also b/w. I shot on my cell phone, which allowed me to keep it unassuming and simple.
